"Few and Jackson play with polished tone, immaculate intonation and infectious high spirits; its obvious they're having a blast" All Music.com Known internationally as soloists, chamber musicians, recitalists and fashionistas Nadina Mackie Jackson and Guy Few celebrate a passionate musical friendship. In the five years that they have been performing together, four new solo concerti, three double concerti, one triple concerto and one symphony have been written for them. Since 2005, Nadina and Guy have performed in Canada and the United States as concerto soloists, a multi-instrumental recital duo and recording artists. They recently recorded their third CD, After Hours, a collection of their favourite music for trumpet, corno, bassoon and piano. In 2006, they recorded their first CD of concerti for trumpet, bassoon and string orchestra (Toronto Chamber Orchestra, Kevin Mallon, conductor). This disc, Bacchanale, won "Best Classical Orchestral Album 2009" from Just Plain Folks Music Awards. Their second CD, Romanza, (featuring virtuoso concerti by Hummel, Weber and Lachner), soon followed in 2007 (Toronto Chamber Orchestra and guest conductor Nicholas McGegan). The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation commissioned two solo concerti (Mathieu Lussier) and a double concerto (Alain Trudel), and featured Nadina and Guy in a broadcast of the premieres from the CBC, Glenn Gould Studio in the spring of 2008. As dedicated teachers and public speakers, Nadina and Guy have given educational concerts across Canada for young people from kindergarten to high school. They have been featured speakers, master class guests and interpretational coaches at the University of British Columbia, Ithaca College (USA) and Scotia Fest (Halifax). Both performers maintain studios at Wilfrid Laurier University, while Nadina also teaches for the University of Toronto and the Glenn Gould School. Their joy for teaching through music has lead to their new commedia dell'arte inspired family show, Buzz and Crow, which will premiere at the Ottawa Chamber Music Festival in August 2010. Nadina and Guy are the artistic co-directors of the Grand River Baroque Festival. This anuual summer festival presents performances on both contemporary and historical instruments in the Buehlow Barn and the town of Ayr, Ontario (www.grbf.ca).
